Red Hen Press is thrilled to announce that they have just signed the novel Spots in Sugarland by Tammy Lynne Stoner for an upcoming release.
Stoner submitted Spots in Sugarland through the popular website Submittable, which allows for writers and artists to easily submit their unsolicited work to journals, publishers, and other venues. Spots in Sugarland is one of the first major releases that Red Hen has accepted from this method, but the press is always excited by new frontiers in technology and publishing.
What especially excited the press though, was the content of the novel. Managing Editor Kate Gale was delighted by Spots in Sugarland and Stoner’s writing: “Lesbians, love, trailer parks, prison, wardens in love, and dresses that don’t quite fit; that and a writer who works language and story like Fay Weldon and Jeanette Winterson. Our lesbian protagonist will follow you home.”
While it will be at least two years before the novel comes into final form, Red Hen Press is thrilled to give it a home among their other diverse and innovative titles.
Tammy Lynne Stoner is a graduate of the Antioch Writers MFA program. She has previously been published in 10,000 Tons of Black Ink, Folio, Unshod Quills, Literary Orphans, Microfiction Monday Magazine, Pif Magazine, The Portland Review, Society – a Pale House Collective, Thumbnail Press #6, and in anthologies like New Rivers Press’s 2015 American Fiction, and Forest Avenue Press’s The Night, and the River, and the Rain.
