Rep. Chu Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 – October 15, Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27) released the following statement:

“Since the earliest days of our nation, Latinos have been an essential part of our economic and cultural way of life. Tens of thousands of Latino men and women are serving in uniform and our economy is recovering thanks in large part to the millions of small business started and run by Latino entrepreneurs. All of America is enriched as Latinos are rising to new levels of leadership and prominence in arts, industry, sports, and politics,” said Rep. Chu.

“But at the same time, many Latino immigrants seeking to contribute are left in the shadows because of House Republican Leadership’s refusal to allow a vote on immigration reform. Failure to fix the broken immigration system that daily separates families hurts our communities and our economy. As we celebrate the many contributions of Latinos this month, we must also continue to speak out, work to shift the power, and make sure our policies reflect the needs of an increasingly diverse society.”
