Pasadena Water and Power will be offering another Hands-On Educational Laundry-to-Landscape (L2L) Greywater Installation Workshop on Saturday, February 24, for those residents who are ready to install a L2L system and would like to observe and participate in a live install.
The workshop will take place at a PWP customer’s residence. PWP says the whole procedure may take up to six hours, starting from 8 a.m., and they’ll be serving lunch to those attending.
PWP’s L2L Greywater System Installation program offers a voucher which can then be used to cover almost the entire cost of the system that used greywater – water from washing machines, bathtubs, showers and bathroom sinks – to irrigate landscape plants.
To avail of the voucher, currently at $80, residents must attend such a workshop, offered for free, so they could familiarize themselves with the system and the installation. The vouchers are redeemable at Landscape Warehouse in Pasadena. Before installing the system, PWP customers could also avail of on-site technical consultation and assistance from industry experts Greywater Action, a collaborative of educators who teach residents and tradespeople about affordable and simple household water systems.
PWP says L2L systems are the only type of greywater systems that do not need a permit to be installed.
Low-income customers are eligible for a no-cost L2L installation though Pasadena’s Under One Roof program, which brings together all of the benefits available specifically for low-income residents, including City programs and partnerships with key community agencies.
Under One Roof includes money-saving programs including bill assistance, efficiency upgrades that can be installed for free in your home, and water and electricity rebates, among others.
To avail of the L2L installation vouchers or free installation in the Under One Roof program, customers are advised to complete a L2L Greywater Application from, accessible through the PWP webpage, submit it to firstname.lastname@example.org, and register for the L2L workshop, which are done monthly. Upon receiving your greywater voucher, you should purchase and install your L2L system within 90 days.
