Pasadena High School Principal Gilbert Barraza has announced the passing of school security guard Yvonne Lockett after a long battle with illness.

“Yvonne was loved and respected by students, faculty, and staff,” Barraza said in a letter to school personnel. “We know that the Pasadena Community is saddened by this great loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, and her PUSD family.”

Lockett started serving the students and school community as a Campus Security Aide in 2001, Barraza said. She became a School Security Officer in August, 2003.

Barraza said Lockett also served at various school sites within the Pasadena Unified School District.

“Yvonne Lockett has left us with her bulldog print along with her hugs, friendly smile and hard work ethic,” Barraza wrote. “Her kindred bulldog spirit will remain part of our campus forever.”

Barraza did not include information about memorial times or burial services.
