A woman grabbed a $1,400 baby stroller and ran out of a high-end baby products store in Old Pasadena after punching the clerk Sunday, but police easily found the thief nearby and arrested her.

The drama kicked off about 5:06 p.m. after two women entered the store in the 300 block of East Colorado Blvd., Pasadena police Lt. Pete Hettema said.

One of the women grabbed the stroller and tried to run out of the store with it.

“The victim, who is the store associate, was able to wrestle the stroller away from the suspect,” Hettema said.

The suspect then grabbed another stroller and tried to take that one, but it was secured to a third stroller. She abandoned that one and grabbed the original stroller again, he said.

The store clerk tried to stop the thief, but both the suspects punched her repeatedly and made their escape.

Hettema said arriving officers spotted Da’Maya Elisha Hines, 20, a Pasadena resident, with the stroller several blocks from where the incident occurred and arrested her. The loss was returned to the store.

The other suspect remains at large.

Hines is being held on felony charges in lieu of $50,416 bail.
