Rochalinne (Rocky) Elman Behr, founder and owner of Pasadena’s gallery and store, The Folk Tree, died at her home on
April 16, 2016 at the age of 87.

Behr was an intrepid traveler, travel writer, collector, and supporter of artists and artisans. Her personal collection and the wares in her shop are famous for their exceptional and distinct quality.

Behr inspired her friends, employees, visitors to the store, artists, and fellow travelers to find joy in the world’s colorful artistic diversity, as expressed through the objects displayed in the gallery. She was always exploring, learning and discovering. She had a special relationship with the traditional arts and artisans of Mexico.

She is survived by her loving husband Sergio Valdes, daughter Michelle Behr, son Jeffery Behr, three grandchildren, her long-time staff, and numerous friends in many countries.

“It was Rocky’s wish that we honor her memory by continuing to support traditional arts and artisans,” an announcement from The Folk Tree gallery said today.

At Behr’s request, the annoucement said, “she will be cremated and there will be no public service.”
