A 60-year old Pasadena man who was bicycling near the Rose Bowl is in critical but stable condition in a local hospital after he was run down in a head-on collision with a suspected drunk driver in a 4:47 p.m. incident on Rosemont Avenue late Tuesday, police said.

Pasadena Police Lt. Mark Goodman said the motorist allegedly swerved into oncoming traffic and mowed down the bicyclist in an area near parking Lot 3 and Lot 4.

After the collision, the driver fled the scene, Goodman said. A witness was able to help arriving police locate the suspect and his vehicle a short time later.

Goodman said the suspect required medical attention and was transported to a local hospital.

After his medical release, the suspect, identified as Gary Lee Dobbs, 57, was arrested for felony hit and run and driving under the influence, Goodman said.

Booking records indicate Dobbs is now being held on $100,000 bail at the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles.
