Tickets for the Rose Bowl Game on New Year’s Day are selling between $180 and $42,750 at Primesport.com, the game’s official ticket exchange. At Stubhub.com, tickets are priced between $142 and $36,002.
The Georgia and Oklahoma football teams arrived in the Southland Tuesday, six days before their College Football Playoff semifinal in Pasadena.
Media reports said both teams have visited Disney’s California Adventure Park. Oklahoma will participate in Lawry’s Beef Bowl in Beverly Hills on Thursday, one day before Georgia does.
The teams will practice at StubHub Center in Carson. Practices are closed to the public.
The day before the game, the inaugural Rose Bowl Bash will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at The Bloc at Seventh and Hope streets in downtown Los Angeles, one report said.
The free event, presented by Northwestern Mutual, is open to the public and will include family-friendly interactive games, a Rose Bowl Game merchandise booth, photo activations, a beer garden to watch ESPN coverage, and entertainment – including a DJ booth, team pep bands and cheer squads.
Food trucks and other local merchants will also be available, the Tournament of Roses Association said.
Once every three years, the Rose Bowl Game dispenses with its traditional Big Ten versus Pac-12 matchup to serve as a College Football Playoff Semifinal.
The matchup was determined by the final College Football Playoff rankings, made by a 13-member committee of five former coaches, four athletic directors, two former administrators, a college president and a former sports reporter.
Oklahoma, the Big 12 Conference champion, was second in the final rankings, one spot ahead of Georgia, the Southeastern Conference champion. Top-ranked Clemson, the Atlantic Coast Conference champion, will face fourth-ranked Alabama in the other semifinal, the Sugar Bowl, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans also on New Year’s Day.
The winners of both games will meet for the national championship January 8 in Atlanta.
