The Rose Tree Cottage in Pasadena will celebrate the upcoming release of the new Downton Abbey movie with two special Downton-themed teas scheduled at 1 and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14.
Each festive tea seating will feature a full traditional British tea, croquet on the lawn, costume competitions for best Downtown Abbey attire and best tiaras, hats and fascinators. The competitions will be judged by British biographer Andrew Morton, his wife Carolyn Morton and Marlise Boland from the Anglophile Channel.
“We are all anxiously awaiting the release of the new Downton Abbey movie on Sept. 20,” said Mary Fry, owner of Rose Tree Cottage. “Our celebratory teas are a great way for Downtown Abbey fans to gather together for a joyful afternoon of fun activities and a grand British tea.”
Tickets are $65 a person. For information and reservations, please call (626) 793-3337. The Rose Tree Cottage is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is located at 801 S Pasadena Ave., Pasadena.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Bloom Where Planted, the non-profit African Children’s Foundation formed by Rose Tree Cottage owners Mary and Edmund Fry to support the education of students at a small underprivileged rural school in Kenya.
