Few realize popular Chef Claud Beltran formerly was an aerospace engineer

Chef Claud Beltran and his Sommelier partner Brandon Firla will provide the recipe for an enjoyable event the Rotary Club of Pasadena’s open-to-the public Aug. 21 meeting.
The culinary duo will talk about festival-style foodservice and how such events serve local nonprofits when raising funds for important causes. They will highlight the “Masters of Taste” gala and Union Station Homeless Services.
Chef Beltran, a Pasadena native who now owns Bacchus Kitchen, a northeast Pasadena neighborhood institution, made the rare transition from aerospace engineer to professional chef before opening his own successful establishments.
His passion for home cooking led him to enroll at UCLA Extension Culinary Courses, which he followed by hard work and being mentored by Chef Thomas Keller in all levels of a restaurant kitchen.
Beltran started and operates a popular catering company Claud and Co.
Sommelier Firla leads a double life as an actor and entertainer, with credits which include
“Suits”, “Pretty Little Liars”, and “Little Mosque on the Prairie”, and the movie “Vice”.
Beltran and Firla will be introduced by Anne Miskey.
The meeting is open to the public and no RSVP is required. Buffet lunch is $33, and the price includes complimentary valet parking.
