The Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) has begun offering free breakfasts and lunches for children and youth 18 years old or younger this summer through the 2018 Summer Food Program.

The program, also called the Fuel Up for Summer Fun program, provides meals and snacks to Pasadena-area children during the summer months when regular school is not in session. School-age youth 18 years and younger are eligible for free meals at any of PUSD’s Fuel Up For Summer Fun meal sites, located at PUSD schools, parks, and some community centers.

Meal sites are located in areas where at least 50 percent of the enrolled students are eligible for free or reduced-price meals. Meals are served at no cost.

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, PUSD, the City of Pasadena and other organizations, the free meals are served at meal sites throughout Pasadena, Altadena, and Sierra Madre. Children do not need to be enrolled in PUSD schools to receive meals, and no pre-registration is required.

Parents can bring their children to one of the 25 community feeding sites and they will be provided a free breakfast or lunch.

Since June 5, these schools have been offering free meals Monday through Friday, according to PUSD: Hamilton Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary, Webster Elementary, Blair Middle School, Muir High School, Sierra Madre Elementary, Sierra Madre Middle, and Focus Point Academy. Central Park in Pasadena and YMCA-Sierra Madre also started offering free meals early this month.

Starting Monday, June 11, these schools will be offering free meals Monday through Friday: Field Elementary, Franklin Elementary, Madison Elementary, San Rafael Elementary, McKinley Middle, and Altadena Elementary. Victory Park, Villa Parke, and the Lake Avenue Congregational Church will also start free meals Monday.

Most of the other Pasadena parks and other community sites will start summer free meals on June 25, according to a PUSD schedule.
