Desiderio Homes Project Begins Process to Identify Applicant Families

SGV Habitat is excited to be moving forward with the Desiderio Homes build in Pasadena! They are currently looking for low-income, first time home buyers, currently living in poor or inadequate housing conditions in the San Gabriel Valley, who are willing to contribute 500 hours of Sweat Equity to build their home. Three of the nine homes are specifically reserved for low-income veterans.

If you or someone you know may be eligible to apply, six application information meetings (attendance of one meeting is mandatory) will be held in January and February of next year.

YWCA (Glendale) – Jan. 24, 2015, 10:00 a.m. – Noon
Jackie Robinson Center (Pasadena) – Jan. 29, 2015, 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Jackie Robinson Center (Pasadena) – Jan. 31, 2015, 10:00 a.m. – Noon
Villa Parke Recreation Center (Pasadena) – Feb. 5, 2015, 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Villa Parke Recreation Center (Pasadena) – Feb. 7, 2015, 10:00 a.m. – Noon
YWCA (Glendale) – Feb. 12. 2015, 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m

Pasadena ReStore moving to Atwater Village January 2, 2015

The Pasadena ReStore is moving to Atwater Village! This new location has easy 5 and 134 access, a 10,000 square foot sales floor, a bigger parking lot, and an easy donation drop-off area.

The Pasadena ReStore will be closing December 23, 2014. SGV Habitat thanks everyone for the ten great years, in Pasadena. Although it is leaving the city, they will continue making bulky item pickups in the Pasadena area! Closeout sales coming soon!

The Atwater Village ReStore will be opening January 2, 2015! This new location has convenient access and is SGV Habitat’s largest store SGV Habitat needs everyone’s help in stocking it for opening day. Individuals and businesses alike are encouraged to donate new or used materials that have life for re-use. Your donations to Habitat for Humanity are tax-deductible.

SGV Habitat having first rummage sale in two weeks

Start making space now and begin collecting items to donate. Bring gently used, clean items during these drop-off days (November 12th-14th from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) at the First United Methodist Church in Pasadena (500 E. Colorado Blvd.). Accepted items include house wares, clothes, books, furniture, home décor, and more. For a more complete list of items that you can donate, click on the flier here.

Then, come and join SGV Habitat on November 15th (8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) to shop till you drop! Start Christmas shopping early this year and support a SGV Habitat for Humanity build. All proceeds from purchases will go directly towards helping to make owning a home a reality for a deserving family in the community. Bring family and friends to this exciting community-wide event. Not sure what to do with those non-functioning electronics lying around the house? Bring us your e-waste for free recycling! Accepted items include televisions, computers, cell phones, and more.
