Fast-casual chain Shake Shack will be selling its new vegan-friendly burger at Eat Drink Vegan, the eighth annual Los Angeles Vegan Beer and Food Festival, on Saturday, May 26, in Pasadena, VegNews site reported.

Called the Veggie Shack, the brand new vegetarian burger features a vegan patty created with black beans, brown rice and roasted beets, topped with provolone cheese, lettuce, onions, pickles, vegan mustard mayo, and served on a potato roll.

Shake Shack, a New York-based chain, debuted Veggie Shack in April at select Shacks, including WeHo and Glendale in Los Angeles County, as the chain’s only meatless item. It was app-exclusive for about a week, meaning diners could only order using the Shack App, and then officially hit menus on April 24.

A Forbes magazine story in April said the Veggie Shack patty itself took eight months to develop and recipe test, undergoing various iterations until the research team at Shake Shack settled on the right combination of meatless ingredients.

Shake Shack will be one of about 100 food vendors at Eat Drink Vegan, which partnered this year with the organizers of Miami’s SEED Food and Wine Festival for a larger week-long festival in Pasadena.

VIP tickets to Eat Drink Vegan are $115 and include two-hour early entry at 12 p.m., all-day fast pass, unlimited pours of all beverages, exclusive VIP pours, eight-ounce upgraded glass, access to the VIP lounge area with picnic tables under the shade of large trees, private spaces for blankets and chairs, VIP exclusive food items, and all general admission perks.

General admission tickets, for ages 16 and up, are $45. Visitors under 21 will only have access to non-alcoholic beverages, and food is sold separately. Child tickets include entrance to the festival and pours of non-alcoholic drinks. Children under 5 are free.
