The Old Mill Foundation presents Magical Music at the Mill, chamber music under the stars at the Old Mill in San Marino. Each evening will feature a different chamber music ensemble performing on the historic Pomegranate Patio surrounded by the Mill’s beautiful pomegranate trees and lush gardens. Fiato Quartet will perform on Saturday, July 22, 2017.

In addition to enjoying the fine music, concertgoers are invited to view the building, learn about its history, and view the latest California Art Club exhibition, Idyllic Impressions in the Mill’s gallery. Summer concerts at the Old Mill are intimate evenings of chamber music surrounded by the history of early California. Concertgoers are urged to have dinner before they arrive and enjoy a beverage at the no-host refreshment bar before the concert or during intermission. Chairs are provided and the musicians are only steps away from the audience. The gates open at 7:00 pm and the music begins at 8:00 pm.

The Fiato Quartet was formed in 2008. Its members are Carrie Kennedy and Ina Veli, violins, Aaron Oltman, viola and Ryan Sweeney, cello. The members of Fiato hold degrees in music performance from the Colburn School, University of Southern California, Rice University, Northwestern University, and the State University of New York at Stony Brook. The musicians of Fiato currently have active concert careers throughout Southern California. They are members of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Opera, Pasadena Symphony, Long Beach Symphony, and Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra. Fiato has performed on many chamber music series in the Los Angeles area including the Music Guild, South Pasadena Library’s Restoration Concert Series, and UCLA’s Henry Bruman Chamber Music Festival. As of 2012, Fiato Quartet is an official ensemble of the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.

Saturday, July 22’s program will include the music of Mozart, Smetana and Beethoven.
