[Updated] A burglar was reported shot by a homeowner alone with his two children about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in a home in the 3600 block of Grayburn Road in the unincorporated, Los Angeles County section of Pasadena.
According to a Los Angeles County Sheriffs Dept. spokesman the incident began at another location when a woman called the Temple City station to report a burglar fleeing her house when she pulled up.
Responding deputies received reports of gunfire at a second, nearby house on Grayburn Rd. where a homeowner shot an intruder.
A Sheriff’s Dept. spokesman Deputy Ed Luna said the homeowner warned the burglar he had a gun. When the suspect did not leave, the homeowner shot him. The suspect was described as a white man in his forties.
The suspect was shot once in the torso, Luna said. He was taken by Los Angeles County paramedics to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
