Sierra Madre: 2017 Women of Distinction Award Recipient Rachelle Arizmendi

In celebration of Women’s History Month in March 2017, Assemblymember Chris Holden recognized the 41st Assembly District’s Woman of the Year, Women of Distinction Honorees and Nominees at his Annual Open House. The women were honored for their service and work that has a made a positive impact in their community. Among the honorees was Sierra Madre’s very own Rachelle Arizmendi.

“The 2017 Women of Distinction are passionate leaders that improve the lives for thousands of individuals and families in 41st Assembly District and beyond,” said Holden. “They demonstrate exceptional leadership that all of us should aspire to.”

Ms. Arizmendi currently serves as Mayor Pro Tempore for the City of Sierra Madre where she was first elected in 2014. She was selected as an at-large Board Member of the CA League of Cities and a Board Member of the League’s Asian Pacific Islander (API) Caucus. Rachelle is also a CA Governor Appointee to the State Interagency Coordinating Council on Early Intervention and a Board Member of other non-profits such as the Asian Pacific Policy and Planning Council and the Foothill Workforce Development Policy Board.

In her full-time job, Rachelle is the Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer at PACE (Pacific Asian Consortium in Employment). PACE is a private non-profit community development organization that serves over 40,000 people every year in the areas of job training and employment, business development, early childhood education, financial education & asset building, affordable housing, and energy & weatherization.
