“I had rather hear my dog bark at a crow, than a man swear he loves me” – Beatrice

Sierra Madre Shakespeare Festival returns for its fifth year with one of William Shakespeare’s most outrageous comedies, “Much Ado About Nothing.”

These family-friendly and professional performances will take place at 7:30 pm on select weekends in July and August at Sierra Madre Memorial Park, 222 Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre. Free parking is available.

Performance dates include:

  • •July 6, 13, 19, 20 and 27
  • •August 2, 4, 10, 17 and 18

Theatergoers are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnics as they cheer on their favorite lovers. Follow the misadventures of Beatrice and Benedict, the sharp-tongued, sarcastic couple whose egos stand in the way of their attraction! Fret over Hero and Claudio, the naive, sweet lovers who become the target of the treacherous trickery.

In 1599, Shakespeare understood the politics of love, marriage, friendship, and gender roles. In “Much Ado About Nothing,” true friends attempt to hasten love, while self-serving “friends” plan a dastardly deed to overthrow wedding plans and disgrace a bride.

The Sierra Madre Shakespeare Festival is presented in sponsorship with the City of Sierra Madre and with support of the Sierra Madre Community Foundation. For more information, visit
