[Updated September 15, 2013 | 10:36 a.m.]  A two-alarm fire damaged six businesses in a blaze which erupted around 4:03 a.m. Sunday morning in the 500 block of North Fair Oaks Ave., authorities report.

The fire took two hours to knockdown. One firefighter is reported to have suffered a “minor injury.”

Both Glendale and Alhambra Fire Depts. provided mutual aid support on scene.

The fire was in a “strip mall that includes bike shop, furniture store, beauty salon and computer repair. Heavy flames smoke upon arrival,” Pasadena Fire Dept. spokesperson Lisa Derderian texted from the scene.

Derderian said that the heaviest fire and smoke were pouring from furniture store.

The cause of the fire is “not suspicious but under investigation,” Derderian said.

Derderian said the damage is estimated at $1 million, with the structures sustaining about $800,000 in damages.

Fire units remain at the location and North Fair Oaks Ave. is expected to remain shut for several hours.
