Pasadena police officers are searching for two men who were in a white BMW 3 Series sedan when they attempted to rob a Pasadena man with a gun as he entered his home early Monday morning in the area of 1100 Sunset Avenue.

The incident happened at about 12:45 a.m. as the man arrived home at King’s Villages.

Lt. Pete Hettema, Watch Commander, said the resident noticed there was a white BMW parked next to him in the parking lot with the window’s fogged up.

“The victim locks his vehicle and walks to his apartment,” Hettema said. “At this time, he hears footsteps rapidly approaching. The victim was able to open his front door at which time the suspect used his hand to keep the door from closing. The suspect then pointed a gun at the victim and attempted to grab a neck chain from around the victim’s neck.”

At about this time, Hettema said family members who were probably sleeping heard the commotion and interrupted the robbery.

The suspects rushed to their vehicle and fled, Hettema said.

“Another suspect stayed in the car and acted as a lookout during the robbery,” Hettema said. “The suspects’ vehicle was described as a white BMW 3 series stock in appearance.”

Hettema said the suspects were not able to take anything from the residence.

Anyone with information about the incident is advised to call the Pasadena Police Department, (626) 744-4501.
