The 2019-20 fiscal year South Pasadena City budget and long-term economic development strategies will get a first airing at the South Pasadena City Council meeting Wednesday, May 15.

The items are being presented after several months of public outreach to gather community opinion on strategies to address long-term financial sustainability.

The budget-related agenda items include:

• A presentation on South Pasadena’s proposed $28.6 million annual budget. This will include an overview of the City’s projected spending and revenue from Finance Director Craig Koehler, along with reports from City department directors on their area budgets.
• An update from interim Planning Director David Bergman presentation on the City’s economic development outlook and short-term goals.
• A presentation by Public Information Officer John Pope on the results of the City’s budget-related community outreach.
• A presentation on proposed strategies to close a projected budget deficit over the next five years.

While the South Pasadena Council will not take action on the plans this week, the public is invited to comment, and the input may be incorporated into the final budget plans.

The fiscal year budget will return to the Council in June for final approval following a public comment period that ends May 31.

The South Pasadena City Council meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15 in the Council Chambers, 1424 Mission St., South Pasadena. Please visit the City’s web site to view the full agenda and staff reports.
