Orchard Supply Hardware is holding a grand re-opening event for its South Pasadena store Saturday with an early-morning board — not ribbon — cutting ceremony and the presentation of a a $5,000 donation to the Pasadena Community Gardens Conservancy, live entertainment, giveaways and exclusive deals throughout the day.
The store officially re-opened after store manager Jim Fox revved up his chainsaw for the 6:55 a.m. board cutting with South Pasadena Mayor Robert S. Joe watching closely.
The first 100 customers received $25 gift certificates and free canvas shopping totes bags were on hand for the first 500 customers.
The Pasadena Community Gardens Conservancy has been chosen to be the “charity partner” for the event. OSH’s donation will support the all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to improving family health in Northwest Pasadena’s urban “food desert” neighborhoods through grants for community gardens and nutrition education.
Orchard says the re-opening event is a great opportunity to get to know your South Pasadena neighbors and community members while the kids enjoy activities like balloon artists, face painters and more.
The newly designed approximately 34,000-square-foot store features OSH’s signature “Workbench,” an expanded customer support area for basic maintenance needs, such as knife sharpening, lock re-keying and rescreening.
The store is located at 452 Fair Oaks Ave in South Pasadena.
