Panelists from the Pasadena Tenants Union will discuss a petition drive it launched in November to gather support for an initiative to establish rent control and a just-cause eviction procedure for the City of Pasadena, during this Friday’s Progressive Discussion Group meeting at the back room of Du-Par’s Restaurant, at 214 S Lake Avenue in Pasadena.
Pasadena civil rights attorney Skip Hickambottom will be moderating the discussion, scheduled for 9 to 10 a.m.
The Pasadena Tenants Union said it advocates for renter rights and tenant protections from displacement caused by gentrification; it believes that housing is a human right and renters have an inalienable right to safe, decent, stable and affordable housing.
The Progressive Discussion Group is a Pasadena-based political thought incubator that meets the first and third Fridays of every month.
Meetings are open to anyone wanting to attend. DuPar’s issues separate checks to attendees, so you can have coffee, breakfast, or just thoughtful discussion of progressive issues.
