Stacy Miller Named Director of Volunteer Services at Huntington Hospital

Huntington Memorial Hospital has promoted Stacy Miller to director of volunteer services, effective immediately. Miller previously served as supervisor of the errand and escort volunteer program at the hospital. In her new role she oversees all volunteer services, which includes 1,500 volunteers. These volunteers represent one of the hospital’s greatest assets, donating over 100,000 hours of service per year.

“The most important part of my job is making sure the volunteers know they are valued and appreciated,” said Miller. “The work they do when they are here makes a big difference to our staff, our patients and their families. We are so grateful that our volunteers have chosen their community hospital as a way to give back to their community.”

At Huntington Hospital volunteers provide assistance to patients, families, visitors and staff, and serve in every area of the hospital. In some areas volunteers assist staff by performing non-technical tasks, assembling patient charts, discharging patients, or taking specimens to the lab, thereby freeing staff members to perform duties that require more specific medical knowledge or skill. In other areas, volunteers may act as the exclusive providers of certain services, answering phones, or staffing an information desk. In all areas the commitment of volunteers is critical to the successful completion of a wide range of duties.

Miller joined Huntington Hospital in 2001 as an administrative assistant in volunteer services. In 2004 she was promoted to supervisor of the errand and escort program, a position she held for the past 10 years. Miller graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in marketing.
