Local artists in Pasadena and Altadena will once again open their home studios to people who’d like to come in and see their artwork during the annual Open Studios Art Tour announced for the weekend of June 2, 3 and 4.

The Tour, with the theme Meet Neighborhood Artists, Come Curious, Leave Inspired, is a self-guided, multi-location event featuring many genres of art from local artists at their studios, and host retail locations. There will be art for every taste including paintings, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, assemblage, photography, jewelry and textiles.

Open Studios also has members who own local retail businesses and/or restaurants who support art and artists by featuring art for sale and display art in a gallery setting.

This year, the Open Studios Tour will have 69 artists showing at 31 locations, and will feature a kick-off Opening Reception and Silent Auction on June 2, where guests will be able to meet the artists, preview their works, and plan the weekend Tour.

The opening reception will be at the Altadena Public Library, at 600 E. Mariposa Street, from 6 to 9 p.m. The Library will also feature a display of Open Studios artists’ work for the month before the art tour weekend, as well as throughout the entire Art Tour weekend.

The opening event will feature a silent auction to raise funds for Open Studios. Sweeter Than Honey will be showcasing beautiful deserts, sandwiches and soups for purchase, and libations from the Altadena Wine and Ale House will also be available.

The Art Tour itself will be on June 3 and 4, Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day in Altadena and Pasadena. The Tour will also feature live music and demos, and food and refreshments at most locations.

Maps will be available at each studio and in these locations: Hoopla! An Emporium of Good Things, Pizza of Venice, Sidewalk Café, Pasadena Antique Warehouse, the Altadena Public Library and McGinty’s Gallery.

Open Studios is a vibrant group of artists from Altadena and Pasadena dedicated to the promotion of art and to sharing it with everyone. The group also provides periodic free art shows to the community.
