Summer Means Swimming

It’s looking a lot like summer out there, but doesn’t it always? The flowers of spring can only mean the days of summer, and summers mean swimming.

Waterworks Aquatics is now enrolling campers for its half-day, weeklong summer swim camp at both its locations in Pasadena and Sierra Madre. Children can learn the 4 main swimming strokes, along with technique and speed, breathing and drills, dives and flip turns, as well as strength and conditioning.

The camp is recommended for children ages 5-14 years old that can swim 2 lengths across a 25-yard pool unassisted. All participants must pass a swim test prior to attending camp. (Campers can be tested during business hours by contacting a front desk receptionist to conduct the swim test.)

There will also be swim games with rafts and pool toys during the last 30-45 minutes of each daily session.

Here are the dates for the 2014 camp sessions:

• Session 1: June 23 – June 27 (5-day camp)
• Session 2: June 30 – July 3 (4-day camp) **
• Session 3: July 7 – July 11 (5-day camp)
• Session 4: July 14 – July 18 (5-day camp)
• Session 5: July 21 – July 25 (5-day camp)
• Session 6: July 28 – Aug 1 (5-day camp)
• Session 7: Aug 4 – Aug 8 (5-day camp)
• Session 8: Aug 11 – Aug 15 (5-day camp)
• Session 9: Aug 18 – Aug 22 (5-day camp)
• Session 10: Aug 25 – Aug 29 (5-day camp)

Camp sessions run Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. – Noon. (An 8:00 a.m. early drop off is available at an additional cost). The cost of the camp is $245/session and $196 for a 4 day session. Discounts are available for multiple sessions, as well as a 10% discount for siblings. Snack and juice are provided each day.

Campers should bring a shirt, bathing suit, swim goggles, swim cap for long hair, sunscreen, and towel.
