A knife-wielding man attempted a robbery in the area of Del Mar Boulevard and Hill Avenue around midnight on Saturday but was foiled by the victim himself.

Pasadena Police Lt. Pete Hettema said that the victim, a 19-year-old Pasadena man, was walking southbound on Hill Avenue south of Green Street when he was approached by an unknown suspect holding a small knife who threatened him and demanded his wallet.

The victim was going to give the suspect his wallet, but before doing so, the suspect slashed his left arm, which later required two stitches. The victim then struck the suspect in the face with his palm and fled without giving up his wallet.

The suspect is described as a 30-year-old Hispanic male. He is still at large.
