The suspect responsible for the stabbing death of a young Pasadena man on Monday night in a Rose Bowl parking lot has been arrested and charged with murder, police announced early today.

A second suspect, said to be his accomplice, has also been arrested.

Demetrio Tapia II was killed on Monday at about 10:08 p.m. in parking lot K of the Rose Bowl after witnesses saw him fighting with an unidentified man.

This morning police said Miguel Castaneda, 23 years of age, a Los Angeles resident has been charged with one count for murder with bail set at $2,055,000.

Valentina Rosales, also 23, a Pasadena resident, has been charged with one count of accessory after the fact with bail set at $1,050,000.

Both suspects are scheduled to be arraigned today in the Pasadena Branch of the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Detectives learned through the investigation that suspect Castaneda and victim Tapia had engaged in a verbal dispute via social media days before the incident.

This dispute led to both suspect and victim agreeing to meet in parking lot K of the Rose Bowl to settle this dispute, where they engaged in a physical altercation with one another resulting in the stabbing death of Tapia.
