Temps Drop, Forecasters Issue Frost Hazard Warning

The U.S. Government’s National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather Frost Advisory for Sunday night in the Pasadena area, prompting warnings by local authorities.

Pasadena Fire Dept. spokesperson Lisa Derderian advised residents to “bring pets inside and cover outside plants or bring hanging or decorative ones inside if possible to avoid freeze.”

The sharp drop in temperatures, with nighttime numbers dipping into the thirties, will last well through New Year’s Day, experts say. The Rose Parade is expected to go off flawlessly (weather-wise) under a sunny, clear but very chilly sky.

Derderian also suggested residents to be more cautious when walking outside as the ground may be slippery.

“With colder days people are using inside heat which will dry Christmas trees.  Make sure they stay watered or are recycled to avoid a fire.” she said, echoing earlier remarks by new Pasadena Fire Chief Bertral Washington.
