The Benefits of Infant and Toddler Swimming

Swimming is an important life skill everyone should learn, starting them young is good, and the benefits it offers make it even better

Getting kids to learn how to swim as early as 3 months old offers more than just the ability to navigate through water safely and with ease.

Aside from learning how to swim, what other benefits are there for toddlers and infants? For starters, improvement in social, emotional and physical development. Additionally, there is also the potential to increase intelligence, concentration, alertness, and perceptual abilities.

I think we can all agree that all the above are positive and necessary life skills children need to develop.

A study has also suggested that children who learn how to swim at an early age tend to be smarter.

Researchers from the Griffith Institute for Educational Research interviewed the parents of 7000 under-five kids from Australia, New Zealand and the US over three years. In the study that involved intensive testing, it showed that children who learn how to swim during the early-years achieve a wide range of skills earlier than the normal population.

Furthermore, aside from achieving physical milestones much earlier than non-swimmers, the swimming kids also scored much higher in visual-motor skills, and oral expression was better.

Parents whose interest have been piqued, know that it’s never too early or too late to have your kids started on swimming.

Waterworks Aquatics, a premier swim school, teaches children from 3 months through adults how to swim using safe and proper swimming techniques. Children are also encouraged to have fun while learning and the facility’s specialized muscle memory technique has proven to be an effective teaching method. So what’s stopping you from enrolling your child?
