Mindy Johnson, historian and author of the book Ink and Paint: The Women of Walt Disney’s Animation, will discuss the pioneering women behind the creative and technical advances in animated film at Walt Disney Studios, including the groundbreaking artist Mary Blair, who is featured in Pasadena Museum of History’s current exhibition, Something Revealed; California Women Artists Emerge, 1860-1960.
The program takes place on Tuesday, October 23, 6:30 p.m. at the Pasadena Museum of History (PMH), 470 W. Walnut St., Pasadena. Doors open at 5:30 pm so that ticketholders may view the exhibition galleries prior to the lecture.
In addition to their work at Disney, many of these women were also talented artists in other mediums and left important artistic legacies that Johnson will explore.
