“The audience enters the darkened Pasadena theater to find the only seats available are at tables on the stage itself. From there, Lear’s Shadow, the Ensemble Shakespeare Theater’s latest show, takes viewers on a simple but inspiring journey about friendship overcoming loss.”
When tragedy strikes two old friends, they find an unlikely path to recovery through Shakespeare’s King Lear.
Part original story, part Lear, Lear’s Shadow is a surprisingly fresh take on one of Shakespeare’s best plays, as told through the lens of a simple story of friendship overcoming loss.
Lear’s Shadow stars David Blue (Stargate: Universe, Ugly Betty, Castle), Fred Cross (Bones, The Office), and recent USC-grad Katie Peabody. It will be directed by Ensemble Shakespeare Theater’s Artistic Director, Brian Elerding (Mad Men, NCIS, Castle).
The Ensemble is commited to making theater accessible to everyone. A limited number of tickets to each show will be sold at a discounted $12; the next few tickets at $18; the remaining tickets will be sold at $25 each. Buy early to save!
The show runs 70 minutes with no intermission and will be performed at the Lineage Performing Arts Center, 89 S. Fair Oaks, Pasadena. Due to limited cursing, the show is recommended for mature audiences.
