For the 12th year in a row, the Pasadena Junior Chamber of Commerce (nicknamed the “Jaycees”) spread fun and joy to the foster children living at the Five Acres child care agency in Altadena with their annual Spring Party. The event kicked off with an egg hunt, followed by cookie decorating, face painting, basketball, soccer, and more! “DJ Johnny” was also spinning records and gave the kids a chance to make song requests, while the an Easter bunny danced and joined in on the fun. Year after year, the event is a positive, fun-filled event for the children, and the Jaycees were bestowed the Special Services to Children Award for the event from Five Acres in 2013.

Five Acres, originally founded in 1888, is a non-profit child and family services agency that strengthens families and prevents child abuse through treatment and education in community-based and residential programs. Services include residential care and educational, mental health services in homes and schools, foster care and adoptions, and domestic violence prevention.

The Pasadena Jaycees are a volunteer and leadership training organization for people aged 20 to 41. For more information about joining or about any of the Jaycees’ charitable projects, please visit or email
