The Pasadena Symphony and Pops inaugurates two popular venues in its 2010-11 Season – the Lawn adjacent the Rose Bowl and the Ambassador Auditorium.
Embracing a distinctive concert experience, the Pasadena POPS returns to the heart of Pasadena as it moves to the other Bowl – the Lawn adjacent the Rose Bowl. Its inaugural concert features the world-famous performers of Cirque de la Symphonie in a dazzling display of breathtaking acrobatics set to such musical favorites as Carmen, Firebird and Swan Lake that culminates in a spectacular fireworks display!
The Pasadena POPS Summer Series continues with a trip to the Big Apple featuring music of Berlin, Bernstein and Gershwin performed by famed Broadway singers Lisa Vroman and Doug Labrecque; New Orleans for an all jazz concert with the new Cuban jazz sensation Alfredo Rodriguez; and to Hollywood for music from screen gems old and new with vocalist Jodi Benson, the voice of the Little Mermaid, and special guests of the 501st Legion celebrating a Star Wars extravaganza!
In addition to a season of great musical moments, audiences visiting the Lawn adjacent the Rose Bowl will enjoy the ease of bringing their own picnic or indulging in a variety of dining options from Julienne, Porta Via and California Pizza Kitchen. Located in the heart of Pasadena , the Lawn adjacent the Rose Bowl offers convenient on-site parking, circular table layout with fine linens or lawn seating for those who want to bring a blanket and pre-concert family fun provided by Kidspace Children’s Museum. A superior outdoor acoustical shell and video screens featuring three-camera live action from stage complete this extraordinary experience with the Pasadena POPS.
Referred to as the ‘Carnegie Hall of the West’, the world-renowned Ambassador Auditorium is the new resident home of the Pasadena Symphony. Over the years, this acoustical marvel has hosted many world class ensembles including the orchestras of Vienna , Berlin , Philadelphia , in addition to legendary artists Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Yo Yo Ma, Ella Fitzgerald and beyond.
The 2010-11 Pasadena Symphony Classics Series offers an intimate musical experience like no other with the masterworks of Brahms, Mozart, Barber, Beethoven, Glass and Rachmaninoff. One of the world premiere violinists, Anne Akiko Meyers, opens Pasadena Symphony’s inaugural concert at the Ambassador Auditorium in a season filled with celebrated soloists such as acclaimed kanun artist Karine Hovhannisyan as well as pianists Robert Thies and Chu-Fang Huang performing in this architectural jewel of Pasadena .
