Local Pasadena shipper Post Pack and Ship is getting ready for holiday shipping to hit its peak as Christmas Day nears and has suggested some ways to make sure your cards and presents get to their destination in time.

“We haven’t hit the fever pitch yet, but I can sense it’s starting to come because people are starting to realize, ‘hey it’s Christmas,’” Post Pack and Ship owner Tom Ma tells KPCC in an interview.

Ma suggests that if you plan to use the U.S. Postal Service to mail your card, you should be able to have it delivered with Priority Mail. You can drop it in the mail as late as tomorrow, December 20. Priority Mail delivers within three business days in most cases, says Ma.

If you’re willing to pay more, the general cutoff date for shipping with USPS, UPS, and FedEx would be December 22, he says.

The USPS website lists December 20 for Priority Mail, and December 22 for Priority Mail Express, as “send-by dates for expected delivery before December 25” within the contiguous U.S.

Through UPS, Friday, December 22, is the last day for mailing UPS Next-Day Air packages to be delivered before Christmas Day, its website says.

FedEx also lists December 22 as the “last day to mail a package using FedEx Overnight Service within the U.S.” FedEx also offers same-day delivery service if the package is 150 pounds or less, and you’re willing to pay a premium.

Post Pack and Ship, located at 115 W California Blvd. in Pasadena, prides itself on being the go-to resource for packing, shipping, printing, and business service needs of Pasadena area residents and businesses.

In addition to shipping, the business is also Pasadena’s “premier copy, print and document services center,” it says on the website. Post Pack and Ship can handle large or small packages, black and white or color printing jobs, and is a one-stop-shop for dozens of business products and services in Pasadena.
