This Is How the City Spent My $1,600 to Fix the Sidewalk in Front of My House — After I Waited 17 Months

We paid the city $1,600 in March 2014 to repair our sidewalks as part of a kitchen remodel. After 17 months of no communication from the city, the attached photo is what they did this morning (August 24, 2015).

A couple of observations…

The city sat on $1,600 for a year and a half for this? Are you telling me that is $1,600 worth of work?

Sadly, it is a symptom of such a bigger problem with the ineptitude of our leaders. When I mentioned sidewalks in a city council meeting, a couple of council members visibly snickered at me. They don’t seem to understand that if you can’t even do the small things, why would people imagine you are capable of large decisions.

I realize that we are dealing with such big issues, but given the responses I am seeing on Facebook, it sure seems like this is a systemic failure. And this is one block from the Mayor and one block from [Councilmember] Andy Wilson.

So what happens in areas where they don’t live?
