Saturday, May 6 – Spring 2017 SNAP Portrait Benefit

The first Art Alliance portrait benefit was in 2003, and has evolved into one of its most popular fundraisers, where the benefactors literally become the art. Dubbed SNAP, as the portraits are primarily photographs, this unique event concept begins with a portrait patron commissioning an art student to create their own likeness, or that of loved ones. Partnering with Art Center College of Design advanced students, the challenge is that the artwork is to be no ordinary portrait. The patrons have some influence over what is created, but usually the best results come when the artist is free to have final say in the finished product. The portraits are seen by the Portrait Patrons (and the world!) for the very first time at the fundraiser, which builds the excitement for the event.
