Friday, March 24 – Gala Bel Canto

Los Angeles Children’s Chorus will honor L.A. Opera’s Placido Domingo and longtime benefactors Jo and Shawn Libaw, of Pasadena, at its annual benefit, “Gala Bel Canto.”

 

Friday, March 24 – The Pajama Game

The Shakespeare Club of Pasadena presents its benefit production, “The Pajama Game” – based on the novel, “7 1/2 Cents” by Richard Bissell, book by George Abbott and Richard Bissell, Music and Lyrics by Jerry Ross and Richard Adler. The Pajama Game is directed by Bill Shaw, Choreography and Musical Staging by Rikki Lugo and Musical Director/Conductor is Brigham Freeth. The benefit production will feature a live orchestra, beautiful sets and costumes and an exciting talented cast of Club members and volunteer friends. Proceeds to benefit our Scholarship Fund for Pasadena Unified Schools.

 

Saturday, March 25 – Bike MS Challenge

Coastal Challenge is moving… to Pasadena and the iconic Rose Bowl Stadium! After two great years of riding from Santa Monica to Santa Barbara, we’re moving to the beautiful San Gabriel Valley. Choose your challenge between 30, 60 and 100-mile route options starting at the Rose Bowl, traveling through the stunning San Gabriel Mountains and other iconic Los Angeles landmarks. Stop at our fully-stocked rest stops with delicious and fresh options as you are cheered on by the most spirited volunteers around. Celebrate in style with friends and family at the finish line featuring live music, a spectacular beer garden, delicious food, and a feeling of camaraderie that can’t be beat! Saturday, March 25 – Foothill Family 90th Anniversary 5K Walk & Festival

Foothill Family employees, clients, volunteers, and corporate partners, as well as community leaders and representatives from local businesses, will gather together celebrate the longevity and impact of the organization. Be part of the Foothill Family fun anniversary event, generously sponsored by Cathay Bank!

 

Saturday, March 25 – South Pasadena Educational Foundation Color Festival

Join South Pasadena Educational Foundation to celebrate Spring with a burst of color on SPEF 2017 Color Festival! A family friendly event to bring together local communities and families to celebrate with food, music, dancing and fun! The Color Festival is SPEF’s alternative to the much missed annual Fun Fair, with a splash of color thrown in to welcome spring. SPEF would like to thank its Sponsors!

 

Saturday, March 25 – Friends of Foster Children Fundraising Luncheon

Friends of Foster Children (FOFC) will host its fundraising luncheon at the Monrovia Community Center. The luncheon is open to members of the community. To continue their 40th anniversary celebration, the luncheon transport guests back to 1976 where Friends of Foster Children all began. There will be themed entertainment, raffle prizes, and information about FOFC and their programs. Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit the community through a variety of projects that Friends of Foster Children works on each year. Projects include a school supply drive, a successful college scholarship program, and FOFC’s largest project – The Sugar Plum Tree.

 

Saturday, March 25 – 8th Annual Women, Wealth, Warrior, Entrepreneur Luncheon

While March is Women’s History Month, everyday is Women’s Entrepreneurial Day. Women are one of the reasons for the rise of small business activity for nearly all 50 states and the top 40 metropolitan areas, including Los Angeles. Coming off the heels of International Women’s Day and to encourage women to take a leap as an entrepreneur, Shepherd’s Door invites the community to network and hear from local women entrepreneurs at the 8th Annual Women, Wealth, Warrior, Entrepreneur Luncheon at the Lake Avenue Church. Red carpet arrivals at 11 a.m. Media check in: 10:30 a.m. Luncheon is free but a RSVP is mandatory. Seating is limited. KABC 7 Eyewitness News Anchor Coleen Sullivan will host and serve as the moderator of a panel of women entrepreneurs who will share their inspirational stories of challenges and successes. The keynote speaker is Toccara Jones, owner of Toccara Jones Intimate Apparel and America’s Next Top Model Alumna. Entertainment provided by Grammy Nominee Angie Fisher, Sunda Croonquist Comedian/Author of Kosher Soul Cook Book, and DJ Ms. Provocativ. History maker U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu, the first Chinese American woman elected to the U.S. Congress and represents the 27th Congressional District in California, will address the attendees about women entrepreneurship. Maxine Waters, U.S. Congresswoman for California’s 43rd District, considered by many to be one of the most powerful women in American politics today, is also expected to make remarks at the luncheon. Waters is lauded by African American entrepreneurs for her work to expand contracting and procurement opportunities and to strengthen businesses.

 

Saturday, March 25 – Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra Presents ”All in LA”

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra’s elegant annual fundraiser, titled All in LA, features a special concert, silent and live auctions, a sumptuous dinner and a glamorous after partyat the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The evening honors Music Director Jeffrey Kahane and LACO Board Member and former Executive Director Ruth Eliel. Pat and Sandy Gage, who co-chaired LACO’s three most lucrative galas ever, head the event for a fourth time. All in LA celebrates the diverse city LACO calls home and honors Kahane and Eliel for their creative, tireless and visionary leadership of LACO and their contributions to the Los Angeles arts community. Kahane, recognized around the world for his mastery of diverse repertoire, steps down at the end of the season, concluding an unprecedented and extraordinary 20-year tenure at the Orchestra’s artistic helm, the longest in LACO history. Eliel, a leading Southland arts administrator, is a long-time LACO supporter who served as executive director of the Orchestra for many years. The gala features performances by LACO Concertmaster Margaret Batjer (violin), Assistant Concertmaster Tereza Stanislav (violin), Principal Cello Andrew Shulman (cello), Ray Ushikubo (piano/violin), Joanne Pearce Martin (piano), and Gabriel Kahane (piano/voice) as well as additional LACO musicians and choreography by John Pennington. Suggested attire is cocktail/black-tie optional. Proceeds benefit LACO’s artistic and education activities.
