Tournament of Roses Foundation Now Accepting Grant Applications

2017 Giving Remains at $200,000 for Local Charities

The Tournament of Roses® Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2017 grant assistance program. In 2017, the total amount awarded to local charities will remain at $200,000. Since its inception in 1983, the Foundation has invested over $2.9 million in more than 180 Pasadena-area organizations. Grants typically range from $1,000 up to $10,000 per organization. The grant award maximum is $10,000. The grant awards in 2016 totaled $200,000, and the average grant was approximately $4,700.

Eligible applicants are organizations with 501(c)(3) status, as of the 2017 submission deadline, that are based in and serving one or more of the following communities: Alhambra, Altadena, Arcadia, La Cañada Flintridge, Monrovia, Pasadena, San Gabriel, San Marino, Sierra Madre, South Pasadena, and Temple City. Grants will be given in the categories of performing and visual arts, sports and recreation, and volunteer motivation and leadership development. Forty-two organizations received grants last year including these six first-time recipients: California Ladyhawks, Jackson PTA, Los Angeles County Community Development Foundation, Marshall Fundamental PTSA, Oakwood Brass-Outreach Project and The Theatre at Boston Court.

Applications will be accepted from November 8, 2016 until 5 p.m., January 26, 2017. All applicants will receive a status update the week of February 27, 2017. The 2017 finalists will be notified the week of February 27, 2017 and then must submit the required additional background materials by March 13, 2017. The Foundation’s Board of Directors will make the final grant selections at its annual spring meeting, and applicants will be notified of their funding status via email in May 2017.

The Tournament of Roses Foundation is a non-profit, public benefit corporation established in 1983 to receive and manage charitable contributions on behalf of the Tournament of Roses Association, its supporters and the general public.
