Tree Falls on Gold Line Metro Train Line

Published on Thursday, January 12, 2017 | 2:20 pm

As the latest winter storm dumps rain in Southern California, a falling tree hit a Metro Gold Line train car in Pasadena Thursday, disabling the train and forcing Metro to use only one track through the area.

Crews were working to remove the debris from the southbound track between the Fillmore and South Pasadena Stations, Metro said. The tree fell at about 8:25 a.m.

Metro officials said passengers were being accommodated by another train, and delays of up to 20 minutes could be expected over several hours as trains share the northbound track.

Bus shuttles are also transporting morning commuters in the meantime.

The National Weather Service says heavy rain could continue in the region for the next several hours, only letting up early Friday morning.

A Flash Flood Watch and a Flood Advisory are both in effect until later in the day.
