Pasadena area volunteers and community members will be planting trees again during the commemoration of the 2017 Arbor Day Saturday, March 25, and of Pasadena’s 26th year as a Tree City USA.

The event is sponsored by the City of Pasadena and Pasadena Beautiful Foundation, a nonprofit founded in 1960 that continues to work with individuals, community organizations and the City in restoring, renewing and protecting Pasadena’s parks, urban forests and public spaces.

Tree planting will occur on Howard Street, Los Robles Avenue and Madison Avenue, but the volunteers will be assembling for registration, tree planting demonstrations and team assignments at 842 E. Howard Street starting at 9 a.m.

During the event, City Public Works staff will be on hand to share information on proper tree care and the City’s environmental programs and services.

Public Works Director Ara Maloyan said his department will also be providing free mulch for pickup on site.

Participants are encouraged to bring gloves and a shovel, and should wear comfortable closed-toe shoes.

Advanced registration can be done with the Citizen Service Center by calling (626) 744-7311by Thursday, March 23, or by sending an email to mking@cityofpasadena.net.
