Pasadena Police are investigating a high-speed two-car collision Monday Morning that resulted in a Dodge Charger being torn in half and nearby buildings being damaged from flying debris.

Police responded to an accident at the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and Wilson Avenue involving a black 2015 Dodge Charger driven by a 26-year-old Pasadena woman which collided with a green 1995 Honda Civic driven by a 43-year-old woman, also of Pasadena, Monday at about 3:02 a.m.

Police said the Dodge Charger was traveling south on Wilson Avenue at a high rate of speed when the driver of the vehicle ran a red signal. The Charger collided with the Honda Civic, which was traveling west on Colorado Boulevard.

Debris from the collision damaged buildings on the southwest corner of Colorado Boulevard and Wilson Avenue, police said.

Reports also indicate that the Charger’s high rate of speed caused it to strike a wooden pole on the west side of Wilson Avenue south of Colorado Boulevard. Police said the Charger came to rest on the east side of Wilson Avenue just north of Green Street.

Both women involved in the collision were transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries and were admitted in stable condition, police said. The driver of the Dodge Charger is believed to have been under the influence of an alcoholic beverage at the time of the incident, according to police.
