Two young men in their twenties died and two others were injured in a solo car collision Monday night on North Orange Grove Boulevard.

Police and fire units arriving at the scene about 10:52 p.m. found that a black, 2016 Toyota Corolla had collided with a metal pole on the east side of Orange Grove Boulevard between Rosemont Avenue and Pasadena Avenue, authorities said.

After the impact the car had caught fire, Lt. Pete Hettema said.

Police said speed was “definitely” a factor and that the use of an intoxicant will be investigated.

At the time of the collision, the vehicle was occupied by four male adults, from Pasadena, Altadena and Santa Clarita, Hettema said.

Two of the men were transported to a local hospital and were admitted in stable condition.

The remaining two men were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The cause of the collision is yet to be determined, as the investigation is ongoing.

The identities of the individuals who died as a result of the collision are being withheld pending confirmation and family notifications by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

The collision is being investigated by the Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team.
