Two Injured, One Critically, As Speeding Truck Strikes Car Making Illegal U-Turn

Two vehicles — one reportedly speeding and the other executing an unsafe u-turn — collided about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on North Lake Avenue near its intersection with East Rio Grande Street.

The impact trapped an Alhambra man in his 20’s inside his black Lexus and injured a 40-year-old Tujunga woman driving a truck, according to Pasadena police Lt. Marcia Taglioretti.

The extrication of the man took firefighters and paramedics about 20 minutes to complete. The man was in critical condition.

North Lake Avenue was closed in both directions by Pasadena police during the rescue.

Both drivers were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries,
