Two 19-year-old Pasadena men were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of residential burglary in Monterey Park, according to the Monterey Park Police Department, on Thursday.

Shelton Elijah Charles and Tyson Rashad Bougere were taken into custody at about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of Crest Haven Way, a City News Service report said.

The report quoted Monterey Park police Sgt. Rick Munder as saying one of the suspects was seen in the backyard of a house while the other waited in a parked car in front of the home.

A neighbor saw the men and alerted the police.

As police officers arrived, the two suspects attempted to flee in the car. However, the police prevented the escape and put the pair into custody.

Charles and Bougere were booked on suspicion of residential burglary and were reportedly each being held in lieu of $50,000 bail and were scheduled to appear in the Alhambra Superior Court Thursday morning for arraignment, according to City News Service.
