Union Bank, American Heart Association Announce Float Dedicated to Lifesaving CPR in the 128th Rose Parade

Union Bank and the American Heart Association (AHA) Western States Affiliate today announced they will jointly present a float in the 128th Rose Parade presented by Honda on January 2, 2017. The float will promote the AHA’s message that CPR saves lives. This is the second time the organizations have collaborated on a Rose Parade float.

“After the success of our float last year, Union Bank is thrilled to join forces again with the American Heart Association to present a float with an important message about the lifesaving power of CPR to the millions of Rose Parade viewers,” said Pierre P. Habis, head of Union Bank Consumer Banking and Enterprise Marketing. “Union Bank has a deep commitment to strengthening the financial and physical health of the people it serves and our work with the AHA has been an important part of that commitment for more than 30 years.”

Union Bank and the AHA’s official 2017 float design, name and special guest riders and walkers will be unveiled later this fall.

The bank has supported the AHA in multiple areas, raising awareness and millions of dollars on behalf of the organization and its mission. Over the last nine years alone, Union Bank and its customers, employees, their families and friends have donated more than $8 million in support of the AHA’s critical research, education, and prevention programs.

“We are proud to join Union Bank once again for the 2017 Rose Parade to bring attention to the importance of learning CPR,” said American Heart Association Western States Affiliate Executive Vice President Kathy Rogers. “Cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in the United States, and when a person has a cardiac arrest, survival depends on immediately getting CPR from someone nearby. Together, our goal is to empower youth and adults with the skills to save a life with CPR.”

The 128th Rose Parade presented by Honda will take place on January 2, 2017 in Pasadena, California. Originally started on January 1, 1890, the event is produced by the non-profit Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association®. The Rose Parade is part of America’s New Year Celebration® and includes decorative floats, marching bands, and equestrian units. This year’s theme, “Echoes of Success,” celebrates individuals, organizations and institutions that help others achieve success.
