On Saturday, May 10, actor/musician John C. Reilly emceed A Place to Call Home, a fundraising event celebrating the work of Union Station Homeless Services. Friends of the social services nonprofit, along with community leaders, celebrated the 6th annual A Place to Call Home, which raised $410,000 to support vital programs for homeless men, women and children.

“Every dollar raised in conjunction with the Union Station gala goes to help us further our work to help people rebuild their lives,” said Randy Shulman, Chair of Union Station Homeless Services’ Board of Directors.

This year’s event—the largest ever, with 367 guests in attendance—honored the dedication of Betsey and the late Sid Tyler, as well as Russell Ferrante & Gerry Puhara, who have given countless hours and funds to assist Union Station Homeless Services in its work to help men, women and children rebuild their lives. The evening included a silent auction and a client speaker who thanked Union Station Homeless Services for helping get her back on her feet and into a home.

The event chair for 2014 was Liz Trussell, who put hours of hard work into making sure the night was a success.

Notable event attendees and supporters included Congresswoman Judy Chu; Pasadena Mayor Bill & Claire Bogaard; County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich; Pasadena City Manager Michael and Brigid Beck; Councilmember Terry and Maria Tornek; Councilmember Steve Madison; Police Chief Phillip Sanchez; and Former Assemblymember Anthony and Ellen Portantino, among others.

“A Place to Call Home is an event we look forward to each year. No other event is quite as moving and inspiring as this one,” said Shulman.
