[Updated August 25, 2015 | 11:45 a.m.] A couple called Pasadena police for help after the man was shot as they drove eastbound on the 210 Foothill Freeeway this morning about 12:30 a.m. and they escaped their attackers.
Pasadena police Sergeant Victor Alaniz said the man had been struck in the neck by gunfire. He was transported by the Pasadena Fire Department to a local hospital and is in stable condition, Alaniz said.
The woman suffered glass fragments in her arm, according to Lt. Kelly Evans.
Both victims are Corona residents.
Alaniz said little is known about what led up to the shooting and all that is known about the suspect is that the vehicle involved is silver.
The couple was driving from Santa Clarita to Corona when a car pulled up beside them and fired multiple rounds into their car, Evans told the Press-Telegram.
After their car was hit by multiple bullet strikes, the couple veered off the freeway at the first exit they could manage the Lake Avenue exit, Alaniz said. After they had fled for several blocks they pulled over and called police from the 300 block of South Lake Avenue.
Alaniz said the investigation will be handled by the Pasadena police, and not the California Highway Patrol.
