More than a hundred concerned Pasadena residents and a host of local elected officials joined Pasadena-area Congresswoman Judy Chu (CA 27th District) at Pasadena’s All Saints Episcopal Church for “SPEAK OUT: Enough is Enough” Wednesday evening.

Families and victims affected by gun violence, faith and community leaders and advocates shared their stories of gun violence has affected them.

The event was part of the “National Day of Action on Gun Violence” which was organized by Congressional House Democrats, following their dramatic sit-in on the House of Representatives floor last week.

Along with Chu were Pasadena Councilmembers Margaret McAustin and John Kennedy, as well as elected representatives from the City of San Gabriel, Rosemead, as well as representatives of state legislators.

Lauren Leib, parent of shooting victim Josh Stepakoff as well as Josh both spoke out against gun violence as well as All Saints Church’s Reverend Susan Russell; Nirinjan Khalsa, representing the Sikh community; and Norma Richamn, from Moms Demand Action.

Hosting All Saints Church has a long history of commitment to the work of ending gun violence. Parish member Jack Scott – former Assemblymember and long time gun violence prevention activist – spoke passionately at the event.
