Fun and a little bit of mischief was the theme of a Mardi Gras party held by We Olive as Pasadena resident and former Louisiana native Shanna Forrestall hosted the party for Autism Recovery project.

The party featured a photo booth with fun themed props, music by Louisiana native “DJ Krewe”, Louisiana-style King Cake, and giveaways from Bayou Boys Spice Company.

We Olive donated 10 percent of all sales on the day to the Restoring Balance: Autism Recovery project, an online community that describes itself as “a community of hope where families with children on the spectrum can find encouragement, practical suggestions and stories of recovery.”

One in 36 children are diagnosed with autism spectrum conditions and the number is rising. Brain trauma specialist Ryan Hetrick, who works daily with children on the spectrum, has spent the last few years capturing footage of real families seeing autism recovery and interviews with medical specialists to chronicle the journey to hope.

The documentary film set to be released in the summer of 2018, called Restoring Balance:Autism Recovery, captures the success of families and practitioners who are drastically transforming the lives of children with autism through dietary adjustments. The film educates and motivates viewers to restore balance for future generations.

The Mardi Gras themed event raised over $600 that will be donated to be utilized as finishing funds for the film. This was the second annual “Party for a Cause” organized and hosted by Forrestall.

Pasadena Business Networking Association (PBNA) member, Sharon Carman of Country’N More also designed a line of custom logo aprons to support the project and a donation will be made from each sale to the initiative. www.countrynmore.com/cause-aprons/
