Week Starts Cold and Wet, But Finishes Basking Under Sunny Skies

Pasadena residents are predicted to wake up to a wet Monday with showers possibly continuing through the afternoon.

But the National Weather Service says the showers “will end over most of the area late Monday afternoon,” with the only shower activity occurring in the mountains.

Maximum temperatures will be eight to 12 degrees below normal Monday, with a high near 57 and a south wind blowing at around five miles per hour.

Monday night still sees a 40 percent chance of showers before 10 p.m., and then will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. A southwest wind becomes calm in the evening.

By Tuesday, high pressure will bring clear skies and a warming trend to Southern California and will start a series of sunny days up to the weekend.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 60 and a calm wind becoming southwest around five mph in the morning.

“The atmosphere will still be quite cool and maximum temperatures will only be in the lower to mid-60s across the coasts and valleys,” says the NWS in a Forecast Discussion.

Tuesday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 44.

Wednesday will be sunny, with the NWS predicting some gusty winds due to a “pretty good northerly offshore flow.”

“There will likely be gusty canyon winds each morning (Wednesday through Friday). Thursday looks like it will have the strongest winds of the week,” says the NWS.

Wednesday’s high will be near 71.

Wednesday night will be mostly clear with a low around 46.

Maximum temperatures will warm each day through Friday, the forecast discussion says, and then Saturday will cool some as the offshore flow relaxes. In fact, Friday’s high could go up to 80 in the warmest locations.
